LOST CARGO CARGO wordt vanaf 2008 niet langer structureel gesteund en sluit noodgedwongen haar Media Space. CARGO zal zich in beweging zetten, letterlijk met een container op wielen, op zoek naar partners. Dit wordt een toestand van LOST CARGO.   
CARGO will not be subsidized any longer, from 2008 onwards that is, and has to close its Media Space and leave Oostende. CARGO will have to move, physically even with a container on wheels, in search for partners. This will be a situation of LOST CARGO. Suggesties? / Suggestions? cargoweb@pandora.be |

MURDER IN MEDIA Vier kunstenaars presenteren hun inzetten voor het collaboratief project MURDER IN MEDIA in het museum De Plate, Langestraat 69 in Oostende van 22 tot 30 december (tussen 2 en 5).. MURDER IN MEDIA is een initaitief van Stefaan Decostere voor CARGO, met de steun van De Plate, de Stad Oostende en het Ministerie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap. 
Brigitte Claeys, Hilde Wils, Bernadette Vandecatsije, George De Decker en Eyeless deden het vanuit de sturing van een bewakingscamera opgehangen in het uitzichtkoepeltje van het Oostends Museum De Plate. Zijn dit sporen in moord?

BUURTFEEST - ZONDAG 16 DECEMBER OM 15u De techniek staat niet stil. We dragen ze altijd en overal mee. Denk aan je gsm, draagbare gadgets en game toestellen. Maar soms keren die dingen zich tegen ons. Dat vinden we minder leuk. De flitspaal om de hoek, de ongewenste mails op onze computer, de glurende bewakingscamera van de buur. Bij wijze van experiment is door CARGO – een organisatie voor creatie met media in Oostende – in het uitkijktorentje, op het dak van het museum De Plate in de Langestraat, een bewakingscamera geplaatst. Hij heet Eyeless. Op dit moment is Eyeless enkel gericht op vier kamers in de omgeving van het museum. Daar binnenin maken kunstenaars vandaag nieuw werk, oog in oog met de camera. In de kerstvakantie zullen hun creaties in de vorm van een media installatie te zien zijn in De Plate. 
Maar er is meer op til. Mensen die vanuit hun woonkamer zicht hebben op het torentje van De Plate kunnen meedoen. Ze ontvangen binnenkort een affiche in de bus. Hiermee kunnen ze reageren op deze bijzondere toestand van kijken en bekeken worden. Begin december worden ze uitgenodigd op een bijeenkomst in De Plate. Ze kunnen dan kennis maken met de makers van dit initiatief, en met Eyeless. Wat kan Eyeless zien, die ogen niet kunnen waarnemen? Kan Eyeless kunstenaars op nieuwe gedachten brengen? Is hij in staat zijn buurtbewoners dichter bij elkaar te brengen? In alle geval, wij heten hem straks allemaal samen feestelijk welkom. |

ZES FOTOGRAFEN SCHEPPEN BEELDEN OP LIJN 6 Zes fotografen scheppen beelden op de stadslijnbus 6 van Oostende, en maken er een media belevenis van in de Cargo Media Space. Open Deur op zondag 6 mei van 11 tot 18u (nadien op afspraak).

Een Media-Theologia als het ware, in de vorm van een publiek experiment met media. Cargo Open Deur op zondag 1 april 2007, van 11 tot 18u.

In the period between the end of the workshops (mid December 2006) and the public presentation (on 4 February 2007) the Cargo Media Space has been invested by some of the participants, as a site for further exploration and presentation. The workshops do not manifest here as results, so far. In-betweenness and ambiguity would be better terms to describe their aftereffect. The term interval definitely is part of the answer the initiators would prefer to choose to describe the commitments, as a means and a given to hint at further developments. PUBLIC EXPERIMENT 1.1 : INTERVAL Interval is the possible event in-between events, suspended if not gripped in time and space, a nuisance, a promise, a practical and philosophical gamezone, a given open or (enclosed) forever. It is the in-between where some original moves and proposals (in this case, out of wokshops) are being manifested, demonstrated, mirrored as it were in a digital system of visual representation. Introduction to the functionality of a multiuser server and demonstration of some of the differences in making multiuser interactions compared to those one might normally make for single user applications. Data/dates : 1 weekend in November (24-25-26)  Coach Paul Pourveur De workshop wil onderzoeken hoe de perceptie van de werkelijkheid en narratieve vormen zich tot elkaar kunnen verhouden. Welke narratieve vormen mogelijk zijn om de werkelijkheid te beschrijven en voor welke representatievormen? Meer in het bijzonder: hoe men deze complexiteit terugvindt in o.a. de verschillende verhaallijnen die 'feuilletons' doorkruisen, de chaotische vorm, het haast interactieve spelelement dat aan de toeschouwer wordt voorgesteld / How to relate one's own perception of reality with narration? Focus on the compex format as offered by the popular format of the 'episode', where chaotic form becomes the site par excellence for the viewers to join into play. Data/dates : 2 weekends (18-19 november en 9-10 december)  Coach (in jest) Stefaan Decostere   To the participants a trajectory is being offered. In the period between the end of the workshops (mid December 2006) and the public presentation (during the month of February 2007) the Cargo Media Space will be invested, as the site of a fourth workshop together. Participants will be given the support necessary to bring some of the results of their workshop into production. Extra expertise and tools will be made available, according to the specific needs of the committed participants. Therefore, no final description of this fourth workshop is available at this stage. However, the Media Space is built and is open for inspection (also online on http://mediaspace.cargovzw.be ). Data/dates : in the period between 11 december 2006 and the end of January 2007. Een opstart hiervan werd gegeven met een live performance op zaterdag 1 oktober in de Beau-Site te Oostende. THEMA : INSTANT MEDIA. De CARGO INSTANT MEDIA WORKSHOPS worden dit jaar ontwikkeld vanuit bestaande, zeg maar, lopende projecten en onderzoeken van zeer betrokken nieuwe media initiatiefnemers, waaronder De Geuzen, Jensen Dehaes en Luuk Bouwman (tropisms.org), binnen de context van de snelle veranderingen op technologisch vlak : breedband, netwerk en toegang, draadloosheid, de versnelde integratie web-computer-tv-games-gsm.
